Ride around Parry Sound and Muskoka took on Special Meaning

Two weekends ago, I embarked on a motorcycle journey from Guelph to Parry Sound and Area. The weather that Friday was spectacular; cool the morning I left but warmed up nicely by the afternoon. I've not ridden much furhter north than Midland, Ontario on previuos rides so I very much was looking forward to seeing the geography and Fall colours around Parry Sound. I soon learned that neither would disappoint!

The colours were simply brilliant and the winding paved roads called out, "Adventure!" with every turn. My SFV650 Suzuki Gladius kept pace with several other heavier and larger engine sized Harley Davidson's, Yamaha's and Victory motorcycles and I enjoued a light lunch at Trading Bay Dining Company in Dorset. The surroundings here were ideal too; located along the Dorset Narrows where floatplanes and other boats were docked. Their wings and fries really satisfied my hunger and the iced tea quenched my lunchtime thirst.

This should have been the time for my third National ride for Women's Shelters. There is typically a ride scheduled with each Royal LePage Conference. It is a charity ride to raise awareness and funds towards violence prevention programs and shelters for women and children. This year I had planned on riding from Guelph to Winnipeg for the event in September but the Covid19 pandemic changed those plans for this year. I have travelled solo from Guelph to Halifax and from Edmonton to Kamloops in the last 2 previous years and helped raise close to $40,000 through those group rides. So the ride from Guelph to Parry Sound and Muskoka has replaced the longer distance ride out west for 2020.

Here is a link to the donation page for this fundraising ride:  https://royallepage.myetap.org/fundraiser/rideforshelter2020/?fbclid=IwAR2IifHmvVatw-nhhr0KkGU-SotE_HjWo_SbIfBQnZOfmCT4a7NOgvCuWZw I hope you might consider making a contribution. Royal LePage underwrites and covers all of the administration costs for the Shelter Foundation; 1 of the few companies where 100% of each dollard donated goes to the womens and children who need it most.
